How do stop the horn from honking when I reconnect the battery terminals?

I diconnected the battery terminals to charge the battery over night. The car has been sitting unused for sometime. When the battery was fully charged I connected the terminals, and the alarm started honking very loud ( not cool)how do I make it stop???
