Vehicle will not crank. Trans stuck in park.

Shut off my car the other day, when I went to crank it back up it would not even attempt to turn over. The ignition works, radio comes on, and I can roll up the windows. Vehicle will not allow me to shift out of park without using the shift release knob. I attempted to jump the solenoid with a screwdriver in both park and in neutral. Starter works but sounded like it was in some sort of neutral stage. Seems to me like a shift linkage issue but I have no idea and dont want to tear the car apart until I have a better idea of the problem at hand. Also all fuses checked out fine, didn't check any relays though. Thank you!
