What is your question?
It is a 1992 Volvo wagon my second 740, body is choice, engine clean but I got Issues. Six weeks ago car died on hwy, Volvo dealer diagnosed no spark past distributor, so I got it towed home and did the following. Cleaned intake, throttle body, got new wires new plugs, new distributor cap and rotor, checked all vacuum hoses replaced vacuum boost hose to intake it had a tear. Replaced all rubber connectors to intake thinking vacuum leak. Replaced timing belt it had a slight tear. Crank shift gear lost its nub so replaced that. Cleaned IAC. Resurfaced all grounds. Car now starts on second try, idles in garage right at 750, in gear will bog down, and stall unless warmed up for 15 minutes or its a warm day. If not driving and parked for longer that 3 hours it will do the same thing as a pure first cold start of the day. Everything I have done solved the starting and hesitation but not stalling. Only code is out of socket 2, 2-3-3 IAC closed, no other codes. Diagnostic in mode 3 IAC functions, injectors click, radio suppression relay clicks. No codes out of socket 6. Exhaust is two years old complete Starla exhaust kit, oh also installed new thermostat and replaced oil cap casket. On my previous 740 sedan, it was a fuel pump, ect and rpm sensor. On this car distrib, rotor and wires were only 2.5 yrs old before dying, regular oil changes fluid checks so was surprised the car died on the hwy. Previous owner installed new IAC and head gasket, all worked great until now. Spare IAC, and coil did not change situation now wondering if both IAC are bad?... Rpm sensor on wagon not checked yet, doing that later today. I think it is air as in not enough or still have a vacuum leak, fuel not really feeling that cause I can rev the car in the garage and once warm it can go no question just the first start of the day

Do you have a fuel pressure gauge?? MONITOR fuel pressure on cold start-up and compare to warm start-up....ALso , not at all familiar with that specific vehicle , but does it have a 'cold-start' injector?? From your description ,and not knowing if Volvo allowed for 'live-data scanning way back in '92 I would start with the fuel system and proving what IS working within spec. Good luck.
Swapped out IAC again, 2 nights car would not start, battery was going down. Trickle charge then try to go at it on Thursday, but no time, had to ride my bike at least the job site was close. FRIDAY morning no work, vagaries of life as contractor, anyway car started right up, cleared codes 233 came back but car starts up. Still cautious about taking it anywhere. Engine sounds OK exhaust sounds odd, no getting steady exhaust more like a put put with puffs of exhaust. Exhaust is new after exhaust manifold you right after o2 sensor, Starla kit Volvo through and through. Drove it 2 miles to gas station, that leg OK. Parked ten minutes later went to start it got no start, starter lead worked itself off starter (it turned over but sounded like power loss`weak starter) so crimped it a tad reattached car started right up. Got gas again turned it off, paid and again car started right up, two miles back home feared for the worst but made it no stall. Tightened all intake manifold bolts to spec on Wednesday actually first two bolts by thermostat housing took serious turns so maybe it was vacuum leak. Don't trust it though. The body on this wagon is so good interior is better than average, sun roof does not leak so headliner is good. Maybe time to sell it now that it is running, trade value nominal. If I drop say a budget of 500 bucks on it will that be enough to make it worth keeping or enough to become a sink hole. I need cam shafts and crank shafts seals, new timing belt cover all 3 pieces, water pump from p o installed kinda jinky, top washer put in wrong u can see edges of it and very tiny leak, tiny no movement in coolant amount. 4 rotors and pads as they are due. The transmission I don't think has ever been serviced. I don't know what to do
