driver's door will not shut

What is your question?

We are currently experiencing cold weather. However, when I went out to start my 2005 VW Touareg, once I got out of the car. The door will no longer close and seems to be in the open position instead of the closed position. Therefore, the door just bounces back when trying to close it. I have tried maneuvering the inside/outside door handles without any success in addition to lubricating and using gumout on the latch. The spring action seems to be working, so do not think that is the problem, but not sure. Any suggestions to fix this problem? Many Thanks.
