I recently have my 2014 vw tiguan serviced, I stated to the service advisor that my compass continuously reads "E" east, Then I was told that i didn't have a compass, and I explained to the service advisor that the compass was working for three years until late 2017 and didn't come back on until June 2018 that's when the "E" came on and stayed on. Then the following week Sunnyvale Volkswagen sent me a survey, every else is fine except the compass still continuously reads "E". Then I was contacted again by a second person name Steve Vollers, explained to him on what going on, and he said that he spoke to Sunnyvale Volkswagen and he stated that I do have a compass, and wanted me to bring the vehicle back, and I don't have to set up an appointment, the second trip to the dealership was on 10/19/18 two weeks after my initial appointment, after scanning and re-scanning the vehicle Steve said the vehicle does not have a compass, the "E" still there, they don't know have an explanation.
What makes this problem better or worse?
this issue is not affecting anything else in the vehicle

You have a compass. Bring it to another shop or ask if they have another Tiguan like your to show them that it has the compass. Alex
Compass likely needs re-calibration .. Refer to owners manual or find someone that has the skills.. It seems the folks you've been dealing with do not possess such skills.
