I put oil into my passat and it all came out the bottom as soon as i did

I just got my 2001 passat from family a few weeks ago. Ive checked the oil a few times and added some here and there. Tonight I added about half a quart and then moved my car 10 ft to its spot and i looked back and saw all of the oil i had just put in on the ground. How do I tell what the problem is. Between putting the oil in and moving the car less than 2 min had passed.
