I have just been told my Passat is a sinking ship and will soon need a new engine and a/t. I have over $ 5000 in it and before I write it off, I would consider replacing the worn out engine and a/t. My other avenue of escape is to try and sell it for parts as the interior and body panels are in excellent condition. I need suggestions. Thank you.

If you have $5000 invested in it now your not going to get your money out it so its either you put another $5000 in it for an engine and trans and then something else could go wrong with it .... If it was mine I would get rid of it but thats your call ... its your money
I agree with gg! Can buy a pretty decent little car for the repair money.
