What is your question?
I bought a new radio and harness for my Jetta. When I connected all the radio wires to the harness and plugged only the harness in, all of my dash lights turned on and the chime when the door is open goes haywire even when the car isn't running. I'm not sure why all this is happening, and apparently no one else does either. Would this be from an electrical problem? Or is it simply from not having the right harness?

Google > Crutchfields... They get you on the right track! You have a mismached harness!!.. OR ..if you had to hardwire the stereo side of the harness.. Might be your mistake!!.. Harness is avail with connectors to plug in stereo AND vehicle harness!! Without hardwiring anything..
All the wires are correctly connected, so it must be the wrong harness. I bought from Amazon and said it was for '96-'02 but guess not
You have (most likely) tapped into the vehicles dash instrumentation lighting which is not required with this replacement stereo as it has its OWN lighting source!!.. There is no need to hook up lighting from vehicle... Perhaps if you eliminated that circuit by simply unhooking it, it may work... Common mistake made when installing a new aftermarket unit... That wire can be found by using a test light, voltmeter and turning lights on-off...OR ..get some hands-on help. . Try Crutchfields first!
