1996 vw jetta automatic wont crank or start. all warning lights come on

THE BATTERY IS HOT, THE STARTER IS HOT . I wonder if it has something to do with the security system.

Thank you, my second guess was the starter... just curious would the lights come on inside and out if the battery cables weren't tight? -whoever thought of this website was genius :)
