When I push the button on the key fob of my 2009 Volkswagen Beetle, there's no click or release of latch for the trunk. Neither is there when I use the release on the inside of the car. We have crawled in the trunk via the back seat and can't seem to find a handle or lever to manually open the trunk. Nor is there a place to put a key in and open it. HELP!!!

Man, that's technology isn't it -- no way to open a trunk with a simple key!! The lock actuator of your 2009 Volkswagen Beetle is most likely defective or the wiring to it is off. The latch can be removed then the trunk lid raised. I have never, nor will I ever, own a vehicle without a trunk key ... and a place to use it!!!
Oooops and I tell others to READ. I just noticed it's a 2009, yep right there in the headline/question. Sorry 'bout that...
Check all your fuses on the drivers side inside the door. I had the exact problem. It'll be one of the red 10a fuses.
Understand well. Have a 2004 Beetle. One of my key fobs opens the trunk with one push in center. Other fob won't work and release next to driver side has to be hit 3-4 times, very annoying. My dealer (MD) told me VW is aware of the problem and just hasn't fixed it. Also, on dashboard, icon may show trunk isn't shut but, I think, it is. Drove 100 miles with "trunk" packed and it stayed "semi-hooked" Good luck.
