I have a 2003 turbo beetle. I use my remote for the doors. Yesterday morning the passenger door would not unlock with the remote. In the afternoon neither the passenger door nor the driver door would open, I was in a hurry to go to the doctor The hatch did open so I lifted my 4 year old niece through the hatch to open the door. Is this a problem with the remote's battery, remote, or something else? Less then a month ago my car turned off immediately after I turned it on car. The solution to that the dealership said was to reboot the computer.

You can easily replace the battery in the remote as a start , or try the other remote. If this doesn't resolve your problem you are going to have to access the built in diagnostics via an appropriate scan tool.The remotes themselves , the module and locks are all monitored. There is a recoding procedure that does not require a scan tool. You need two keys and two working remotes to proceed.It's in your owners manual. If at all possible have the system "scanned" and go from there......
