Ran out of gas and now my car won't start.it will turn over but won't start.

Quite often in these cases it is presumed that the vehicle ran out of fuel when the actual problem lies elsewhere .. Suggest checking for proper ignition spark .. Another possibility is timing belt failure .. And of course it IS possible the fuel pump has failed .. Hands-on testing is required to 'prove' why the engine stalled and will not re-start.
