My check engine light is on. P0768

What is your question?

The check engine light is on. It is an automatic transmission and it doesn't seem to want to go to second. Anything past 25 is staying between 4-5 RPM. Transmission fluid has not been checked as the VW dealer said it could lock up the system. (I have had the car 2 years and do not know if the transmission fluid in the sealed system has ever been checked/changed.) Code is P0768 failing at 1 and 4.
