Paid mechanic over a $1000 to replace air sensor and very little other things because my check engine light won't stay off. I'm at my wits end and it's costing me more to try to get the check engine light to stay off then I played for car. Any suggestions?

I replaced the air sensor because that's what the check engine code said was wrong. After paying a mechanic to do that, the check engine light is back on.
First mistake was thinking the check engine light or a trouble code can determine what the problem is .. Only by systematic testing and diagnosis can a proven solution be reached! .. The code number is only a tool to be used as to which system needs to be tested.. Good luck!
