Why don't my doors lock/unlock if my key fob does transmit a signal?

Took my key fob to get new battery cause doors were not locking/unlocking. After checking it, it was working fine and transmitting a signal but something was not allowing the signal to be received.
What could it be? Does it have a fuse? Where?
What makes this problem better or worse?
Doesn't work at all, have to manually open
