What is your question?
When turning ignition key from on to off, it will not go past acc to off. The key will go to off, if I disconnect the battery. This problem happens sporadically, and is very annoying. I did a self diagnosis and had the toyota dealer replace the transmission control switch, but that did not work. They will charge $175.00 to diagnose it, but it might not happen when they check. Sometimes I can drive the truck for a week with nothing happening. Any info on this problem is greatly appreciated. Thanks Brad

A common problem is soda / coffee gets spilled into the shifter cavity - this becoms syrupy or viscous and can prevent the shifter interlock from functioning properly .. The interlock relies on battery power to actuate therefore disconnecting battery will alloy key to cycle to the off position .. The actual locking mechanism is in the steering column at the ignition lock cylinder. However the shifter must send the correct signal to the locking mechanism when shifted to PARK position. *Sometimes* liberally spraying WD-40 into the shifter cavity will free up the sticking solenoid. Good luck.
Basically the mechanism does not recognize the shifter is actually in PARK. Of course this is not the only scenario for interlock failure.
