my 96 2.4 toyota Tacoma was not cranking when hot so was told to remove the air filter temp sensor and i did it cranked up no problem need to know if its ok to drive without the sensor i have to order one
What makes this problem better or worse?
wont crank when hot will crank with air filter temp sensor out

Best I can remember - - The IAT sensor is located in the top portion or cover of the the air cleaner assembly - this is after air has passed through the air *filter* .. That leaves an open hole into the intake tube - foreign particles (dirt ingestion) can be pulled into the engine - that's not good! By removing the sensor you've also created an avenue for more fresh air to be pulled into the engine as well - therefore I suspect a problem exists within the air delivery system going to the intake manifold plenum. It is highly recommended to have qualified personnel perform the required *hands-on* testing to determine exactly what the failure is instead of leaving the sensor dangling outside of the air cleaner.. I guess it would be ok to operate vehicle like that temporarily until it can be properly repaired.
