How many other Toyota solara convertible owners with cracked dashboards would be willing to join me in a class action lawsuit for compensation, as this problem greatly devalues the trade value.

I would definitely join in a class action law suit. I have a 2007 Solara Convertible and the dashboard looks horrible. Now the glove compartment is cracking. I called California number & was told that I need to go back to the dealer & because its out of warrenty there is nothing they could do! At this point, I would never buy another Toyota. And my car is in the garage. How do we start this law suit?
I don't know if you'll get much of a response about that here because we fix cars and make them last longer for our customers and that saves them lots of money as compared to what it costs to sell and trade. Properly repaired you might get another ten years (or more) out of your Toyota and then any issue of the trade in value becomes a non issue. Check this link out. http://www.autoaccessoriesgarage.com/Dashboard-Covers/Dash-Covers/_Toyota-Solara You can buy a cover for the top of your dash and make it look great and then reap the much greater rewards of enjoying if for many more years instead of making payments on another car.

I have a 2007 Lexus 350 that has had this problem for 4 years. My friend bought the same model and his is not melting too. I have been complaining for years and have not gotten anywhere with Lexus Corporate. It's also dangerous as it blocks your vision with the windshield glare. I would join a class action. My friend is also an attorney and he will join.
I absolutely would and have tried many times to rally others. More than just the Solara other models have same issue.
I would like to join. We should find out what we need to do. My dashboard is a disaster- all cracked, sticky, impossible to even clean. I'm taking the car in this week to get "cost estimate", but I have a feeling they will not give anything towards repairs because it's out of warranty, though it only has 45,000 miles.
I have a 2005 and unable to sell it because of this problem. 42000 miles. Always garaged. Will join!
Here as well! Same problem; looks terrible.
PLEASE READ THIS - Recently I got something from Toyota that looked like another offer to extend the "warranty" on my car. I ALMOST threw it away, good thing I didn't! It was a byproduct of them essentially having already extended the warranty as THEY ARE NOW REPLACING THE DASHBOARDS ON THESE CARS!!! I called my closest dealer and was originally told that this month I would have a slot, but parts have been slow to arrive so now I'm in June. In any event, there's a good chance that Toyota doesn't have time/motivation to follow the chain of ownership but it couldn't hurt anyone on this thread to call Toyota's HQ and give your vin# to see if your car is on the list of cars that are having the dashboards replaced.
Wanted to add to John's update. I took our 2004 SLE Convertible in to our local dealer after calling the 800# to report and not getting any follow up. I was literally in the line awaiting a service rep longer than I was there to get scheduled for the dash replacement. The tech looks at the car, called over one of the managers, they disappeared for no more than five minutes and returned saying they had ordered the part and had a confirmed delivery date and I could come in next week for the replacement. I'm told it takes less than a day. My local dealer said they have done a number of Solara dash replacements this year. I'll follow up here with a report on the repair. Our 2004 is always garaged and in like new condition and I'm pretty particular about who does our repairs and the quality and customer service. Hoping to put this cracked dash issue in the rearview mirror. If you've had trouble in the past getting your dealership to help, definitely try again and mention Customer Service Program ZE6.
I have a 2004 with the same issue, garaged most of the time. I would join as well
Same here; I have an '07 and the dash looks like it's 20 years old and was stored in the sun in Jamaica. I'm in.
