Toyota has finally agreed to replace the dash on certain vehicles Contact dealer with your vehicle ID # to see if your car is one of them!
Contact Toyota now. They are owning up to the problem and replacing them at no charge. Yes it is for real after all these years. My wife is having her 2004 done in 2 weeks (mid July 2015). Call your dealer, oldest problems get fixed first.
How did/has your repair gone? Hope it's been to your liking. Any advice you'd share for one having it done next week? Thanks!
This was my experience this week after researching and following the dashboard issue for a while. I hope it's helpful. I took our 2004 SLE Convertible in to our local dealer after calling the 800# to report and not getting any follow up. I was literally in the line awaiting a service rep longer than I was there to get scheduled for the dash replacement. The tech looked at the car and called over one of the managers. They disappeared for no more than five minutes and returned saying they had ordered the part and had a confirmed delivery date and I could come in next week for the replacement. I'm told it takes less than a day. My local dealer said they have done a number of Solara dash replacements this year. I'll try to follow up here with a report on the repair. Our 2004 is always garaged and in like new condition and I'm pretty particular about who does our repairs and the quality and customer service. Hoping to put this cracked dash issue in the rearview mirror. If you've had trouble in the past getting your dealership to help, definitely try again and mention Customer Service Program ZE6.
Let us know how the dashboard replacement went. Did you have any fallout from the dashboard repair?
Two weeks later, the dash was installed perfectly in about 4.5 hours. It will be a year next month and all is well. No rattles or problems whatsoever. I hope the materials used in the replacement will hold up long term. I was told by the dealership that Toyota will only replace it once so I'm trusting that whoever manufactured the replacement dash got it right this time. Hope this helps.
I contacted local dealer which informed me that my 2004, does not have any recalls on it. This is a cross the board problem which should not fall under a pick and choose which model is going to get assistance. We buy our products based on research, reputation, and other factors. Why are we the consumers getting penalized for bad decisions made by upper management who probably trimmed the fat to line their pockets with. Now we are left with an estimated repair or replacement bill for $2,000. Who is say how long this one will last....... My car sits in a well ventilated storage and is babied. It now has the appearance of someone who has been going to a tanning salon for decades. Thats ok money grows on trees and we as consumers can just go pick more...... NOT!!!! Never again will I buy a Toyota, because they do not back their product.......customer satisfaction is not in their vocabulary. It has become the Yugo of the car world. One angry soon no longer to be a Toyota owner...
