replaced oil pan gasket oil pump seal crankshaft seal camshaft seal and valve cover gasket! just noticed fresh pool of oil on passenger side on intake mainifold which wasnt there for the week an a half ive had it fixed. where could it be coming from? any help please would dearly be appreciated!
Hey thanks for the advice which i did find out where its leaking from which is down at the on passenger side of motor an from underneith the timing belt cover but didnt get to remove it tonight cause getting to late which tells me that if its coming from a new seal not put in all the way would it be safe to knock it all the way in to place of thats the issue of me not having it all the way pushed in to its slot it goes in?
You can try that but i suggest replace the seal,, may be damaged now. Did you pull the actual oil pump off and replace the elongated o-ring type gasket/seal behind it? I always replace the cam, crank, oil pump shaft and oil pump 'body' seals! Care needs to be taken getting the LUBED seal lips over the shafts they will run on!! Make sure shafts are in good condition. No burs or grooves! Lastly, you stated oil on intake manifold, dont see how a front seal put it there! A leaking valve cover gasket sure would though! Maybe just old oil still there....
I replaced the valve cover gasket with 4 new plug boots the oil pan gasket the crankshaft seal the camshaft seal an the oil pump seal never replaced any type of o ring gasket i just pulled off the 3 pulleys an popped the old seals out an put new ones in which was sure they were all the way in which i had little trouble here an there just do to the lack of room which as soon as i get off work tomorrow im taking the cover off ab see what its got to show me. Was think might leave cover off which i should have done the first go around to have made sure everything was working fine but for like a week to a week an a half it seemed to be doin fine but honestly when i first really noticed it was right after i put a little bit of marvel mystery oil treatment in it which i figured it thinned out the oil an found its way out but i change all fluids regularly an keep up with everything cause the car has 226000 miles on it so i know anything can happen at this point. I will keep u informed on the outcome of what i find an if i havr any questions to ask ya! Thanks alot for the information uve giving me i really have no one around that knows much about cars. Thanks again so much!!!
No problem! The oil pump body to engine block is where that other gasket/seal goes and they do leak! Yes, leave the cover off and run it after you check it out! That is what i do at the shop just to be sure! I let it run for a good while...run it at sbout 2000 rpm for a few minutes also. I wouldn't do much driving with it off though, might get something caught in the belt!
