that's a very tricky question!depends on driver and driving conditions.driving with FOOT on gas and brake pedal at the same time, stop and go,around town, interstate driving, slamming on brakes, quality of brakes and rotors, mechanic doing the brake job correctly.could be 1000 miles, could last 40-50,000 miles.i guess i am one of the lucky ones.i have over 68,000 miles on 2000 F150 and no sign of any problems as of right now.(knock on wood)
Great response!
Thank you for your response. I mostly go around town, not much freeway driving, and gentle on my brakes, very seldom need to stop quickly (there are always scary drivers out there) and never in my life kept one foot on the brake while driving! I had my brakes done at Toyota at 37,000 mi. because they said they needed it....my last car was a mustang GT and sold it at 65,000 mi. with original brakes that were still reported as good. I was asking to find out if I had been 'misinformed' by Toyota (this car is a 2009 Sienna Limited). It pretty much sucks being at the mercy of mechanics ;-)
if you are having no problems with the brakes,no grinding, scraping, stopping good,no jerking in the steering wheel, then your brakes are probably ok.sometimes the dealer has FORK-ED-TONGUE.sometimes they get slow, and they tell you things need replacing that don't really need replacing just to make up for the slow down.i would find an independent, trusted, maybe family owned repair shop who does not have a lot of overhead to do the work when needed, and stick with them.where the dealer is charging $100.00 plus per hour labor, lots of overhead there!
