headlights dim for only a second and then return to normal

no, battery light not on - battery did test as no charge left . so I replaced this afternoon - hopefully alternator is ok

did parts house try and recharge the old battery?if the alternator is going out,it will drain the new battery also.normally if the battery light comes on,(which it didn't) and lights are dim,it's the alternator.maybe it was the battery.did you happen to notice a little sticker on the old battery with the month and year?

was an old interstate battery from car lot, -date sticker had been removed -.Could see where it had been. (one reason I got a good price-lol)car did start right after being replaced. I will have alternator tested tomorrow . The battery was so dead they could not test alternator & I forgot to have them check after I switched out batteries...my bad .. Thank you for your help

your welcome.you are correct.you can't check the alternator on the car,unless the battery has a full charge on it or it will give a false reading or will say battery to low to check!post findings!hope that fixed it.
