When cold it cranks but doesn't start. I smell gas too

OK would that explain the smell of gas?

Well since that's what injects gas into the engine for cold start then yes... It's possibly too much.. Flooding engine due to CTS reading.. You may find a vid on YouTube showing how to test... All I can do here is offer a best guess without trouble code(s) to go on!!
