AC stopped working; can I recharge it on my own?

If you know what you're doing it should be fine, but it sounds like you are unsure. A lot of DIY'ers try and cause more grief then help. Maybe it's not the Freon that's the problem, maybe you will add some and it has plenty in it and something else is wrong.
