What is your question?
The remote key fob will unlock doors, but not lock them. The same is true with the door armrest switches: they will unlock the doors, but not lock. All other functions on car are normal. I am told I have a faulty Junction Block, OEM part #: 82730-48F22. I'm pretty handy if I could get some guidance in removing and replacing. Also wonder if the car computer will need reprogramming before it will run. Thanks!
What makes this problem better or worse?
Problem is constant
How long has your 2010 Toyota Highlander had this problem?
Six months
I do not think the diagnosis you have received is correct!
Thanks for your replies. I should have stated that the vehicle was inspected by our local Toyota dealer and underwent diagnostic tests. It was their conclusion that it was the Junction Block Assembly where all the circuits for the door locks reside. Beyond their recommendation, I am at a loss.
The *fuse block* could possibly be the problem - however ‘IMO’ that would be kinda rare .. You see the fuse block is where battery power comes from to power the auto locks - seems they wouldn’t work at all if the power source has failed .. The lock actuator simply reverses polarity to lock / unlock doors ... I’m only suggesting the diagnosis you got should be confirmed before all the work necessary to replace the fuse block is done .. It is hard to disagree with someone that has checked it out hands-on but it just don’t sound exactly right to me. â–ªï¸https://repairpal.com/repair-shopsâ–ªï¸
I was surprised that there isn't a simple door lock relay that could be unplugged and replaced. The dealer wants $915 to replace the junction block, just so I can push a button to lock the doors. Ouch. My Camry Nav unit went blank, and I saved $3000 in replacement cost by pulling the head, sending it to CA for repair and reinstalling. It's satisfying to save a buck, but don't want to do anything foolish to a great Highlander.
IF you can find an *experienced* mechanic at a local auto repair facility - I think it would be best to have the problem checked out a bit more. Good luck with it! Later on - Let us know the final outcome - that may help others with same problem.
Thanks! Will do...
