What is your question?
Back story: I bought my 08 base model highlander at a reputable lot 7 months ago. I love this vehicle! Only 72,000 miles on it. Three days after I bought it, it wouldnt start one morning after pumping gas. Car lot towed it back and replaced the battery. Everything worked fine and had no notification lights on. I work out of state and left the vehicle in storage (outdoor but securely covered) for about the last three months. I was home every other weekend and would crank it up and circle the block in it. Current issues: The last week since Ive been back I noticed that the check engine, vsc, and traction lights are on....also....I can crank the vehicle and it will start right up but immediately shuts off. If I try to crank it again right away it starts up and stays on with no problem. This happens EVERY time I go to start the car. There are no odd noises, ticks, or vibrations. The only other symptom is realized when I try to accelerate quickly. The RPMS rev up but its almost like the transmission may be slipping because the car doesnt shift and speed up. I am still able to accelerate and drive safely. If I slowly accelerate, the transmission shifts with no problem. Had the codes checked and out of 8 hits only two were "confirmed". One mention low positive input Question: What is going on???

Understood but for your conditions and symptoms you describe I don't think it's going to be an easy quickfix but like you I do love my Toyotas give it some time see if anyone else pops up with some suggestions on your symptoms otherwise I would suggest taking it to a real shop and do exactly what you did here explain It exactly the same
Your right....that WOULD help. Lol sorry. All 7 of the other codes reference the O2 sensor in one way or another. The one that mentions low positive current and one that mentions the O2 sensor bank were the only two (out of eight) that Advanced Auto says were actually "confirmed as reoccurring".
You're misunderstanding the purpose of the codes if it actually had DTC's said it would have specific numbers associated with the P followed by four numerical digits. That code or codes help pinpoint what direction to actually diagnosed they can be electrical troubleshooting or they can be mechanical. without the specifics it's pretty useless to try to guess. have somebody hands on at a real shop body parts house check it for you that will probably end up saving your money. My suspicion is voltage or communication errors related to the length of time it is sitting ,so you may want to find a shop that will let you put it there and you can explain to them how to duplicate the symptoms and possibly be there to show them one time
No sir I dont believe Im misunderstanding their purpose. I just dont have the actual numbers in front of me to post. All Im doing is repeating what was explained to me after the professional translated the codes. Perhaps you are misunderstanding the purpose of this forum. I have provided plenty of detail in regards to the symptoms and behavior of the vehicle and am searching out others opinions as to what the possible problem/fix could be....which (in my "understanding") is the entire "purpose" of this site. I most certainly appreciate your feedback though! And will take your advice under consideration
