Do I really need to rebuild the transmission, in order to pass the emission test?

get second opinion find a local trans. shop sometimes it is free.
YES TRANS NEEDS TO BE REPAIR TO PASS SMOG TEST. SILLY HUH? IT MAKES THE CARE RUN TO ITS SPECS AND SAVE EMISSIONS
Bought my 2006 Corolla LE in June, 2018. It had 189k mi. I took my first long road trip the following Nov issue free (450 mi Round trip). I took my 2nd long road trip the following month. 300 mi into the trip my CEL, VSC, and Traction control lights all came on. No issues with the car or gas milage. Toyota said it was code P0741 and I needed a new tranny. I drove home with the code on, and no performance issues whatsoever. After a few days of normal driving, the code disappeared for a year. They came back on for 2 days and then went off. Just took it in for service and an airbag recall and they said there was a pending P0741 code (from the most recent CEL incident) in history. It is Jan 2020 and my car has 104k mi. No lights on and my car drives great, no issues. Just took another long road trip in Dec 2019 with no issues round trip. Hope this helps someone. I think another recall is in order.
