What is your question?
My car has 91k miles. About a week before I was told they cleaned the pcv valve after which the light went off. Now, a week later the check engine light is back on and I'm told I need a new air fuel sensor & that there is another problem they "can't see" until they replace the sensor. I was quoted $350 which includes labor; I didn't get the work done but wanted to know if this sounds right.

NO.i assume you mean the Mass Air Flow Sensor? it's got 2 screws and 1 electrical connector! not hard to change at all.depending on if you get a remanufactured one or a new one,it's $80.00-$135.00 plus tax.very easy to put on yourself.then you don't have to pay "THEY" for less than 30 minutes of time.what is the other problem (THEY) can't see, until this sensor is put on? google this Part Number>> 197-6030<< and see what it looks like.who is THEY?
I went to STS both times. I was told by STS that I needed to replace the air fuel sensor (I know nothing about cars at all)
ok.don't know who STS is,but you could do this yourself and save some money,if that's the problem, and it's easy to do.good luck with it.
STS is affiliated with Mavis Discount tires. I appreciate you taking the time to respond to my inquiry. I have a male friend that knows a little something about cars, I'll buy the part and see if he can help me. Thanks again.
they must be like Firestone!every time someone goes for tires, they ALWAYS tell you something else is wrong with your vehicle.i have been there and listened to the stories they tell folks.they told me one time when i was having tires put on my sons truck that the alignment was WAY OFF bad? I JUST ASK FOR TIRES(ON SALE),AND I WOULD GET BACK WITH EM. took it straight to my friends shop.he checked the alignment and it was dead on? i also was there one other time and ask two of the people at the front, did they sell car batteries(i know they do,Interstate). i ask them are they good batteries? they said the best out there? i said, really? i then ask them who makes Interstate Batteries, and they both said Interstate makes them, very large company.i said really?they oh yes VERY LARGE COMPANY,(Interstate Battery Company).i looked at both of them and i said there is no such company? i then told them that Johnson Controls makes Interstate Batteries and that neither one of them should even be working the front counter sales, plus a few more things.the end!
I didn't trust what they were telling me. I'm glad I posted my question. I have spoken with my friend and he's going to check my car tomorrow. Thank you
you're welcome.the check engine light should be on,for STS to have said or known this.so,tell your friend to have the code or codes read and post the codes here.someone will see the post tomorrow. i am less than 20 miles from Charlotte...so i will be watching my Carolina Panthers(15-1) hopefully be 16-1 tomorrow!!
