What is your question?
Hi, I have a 2001 corolla. Couple of years ago, the steering wheel broke and it incurred about $900/- in repairs. Recently, the driver side mirror motor broken down and it resulted in $400/- in repairs. The diagonally opposite mirror is still not working and I am living with it as I am not planning to put another 400 dollars on it. The air conditioning is not working. With all these problems, I am not planning to put more money and thought of buying a new car. I would like to know if this is normal for a car of this age or should I buy a new car? I live in UT and struggle to drive this car in snow. I have all season tired but still don't feel confident with the heating/air conditioning. Appreciate your advise.

As a rule the Corolla is a very reliable vehicle - routinely see 300k miles on em without incident. I don’t understand a broken steering wheel - that’s certainly not normal. As for the rear view mirror - I don’t know all the details. Air conditioner may need additional refrigerant however *hands-on* testing will be required. Keep this vehicle or purchase another is kinda dependent upon financial situation. Good luck!
Additionally - WINTER (snow tires) will definitely improve traction in snowy driving conditions - I recommend having *snow tires* all way around (4) - it makes a difference! It seems the repairs you posted are more of the self induced or vehicle age variety which are not actually drivetrain / dependability related.. The broken steering wheel is a mystery - furthermore the cost of the listed repairs are extreme. It appears to me the vehicle has served well - considering the age and ‘probable’ mileage that it has compiled through the years. IF you can get that same service from another vehicle - consider yourself fortunate.
