In my understanding, that shouldn't happen.
There is no 'neutral' lockout, all of them will do that!.. I've done it on mine and the wife's 02 camry both... There are times I wish it did have a lockout for neutral... Under the right conditions, it can be a problem...as in oncoming traffic and you need to get out of the way and it gets bumped into neutral.. Just saying.
