What is your question?
Hi there- if I may seek some advise - I have a 1997 Toyota Corolla-mileage 114,115- no check engine light- ever - oil is always changed 5k- I had my NYS inspection 1-2-20- no issues - passed- June 6th I got gas- after I was finished-the temperature gauge shot up beyond H!! -WTH I SAY! I turned the car off- and turned the key one click- shot up to H- the vehicle is not over heating- took to Autozone they did diagnostics- all clear-my husband on the safe side changed out the thermostat and the coolant sensor- it still goes to H??? Wiring? What else can we or really he check? Gauge goes to H even when cold- My thanks for any assistance Kathy
How long has your 1997 Toyota Corolla had this problem?
1week
Do you see it turn on while watching??
You know I was wondering about that- I just drove about 17 mile on the highway at 65mph and when I parked the fan didn’t come on- don’t you think it would?
Do I see what turn on? The fan? No
Hint: Driving at highway speeds - no fan required - RAM AIR is providing the necessary air flow for cooling.. Once vehicle is in slow / stop and go traffic or stopped at red light etc, the fan MUST turn on to provide air flow for cooling - otherwise engine overheating is imminent Good luck!
Both fans are operational
Must be a shorted wire from temperature sender to gauge .. Scan tool with live data will show actual engine temp so it can be compared to gauge. Temperature gauge *SENDING UNIT* is not to be confused with the COOLANT TEMPERATURE *SENSOR* !! Probably need *hands-on* assistance from qualified personnel.
