SWITCH ON COLUMN HAS FAILED, WHOLE UNIT IS TOO EXPENSIVE AND COMPLEX FOR 83 YR OLD SHADE TREE FIXER

Unless the combination switch is physically broken - highly recommend hands-on testing before part replacement .. There is a dimmer relay under hood - also possible headlight bulbs have failed. Attempting to jury rig a floor mounted dimmer switch is going to be royal pain in the a - - ! May want to consider a salvage yard combination switch - it's not that difficult to replace.. Good luck!
