Is there a"trick"to stabbing a 5 speed manual transmission been trying for days

Was the clutch assembly replaced? (or the old one removed and re-installed?) The disc needs to be lined up before tightening the pressure plate , that is usually done with a special 'line-up' tool.If the disc and splines are not lined up , it won't go in , no matter how hard you try.
