what effects if any when the oil cap is left loose?

This was no oil change. It was an engine replacement. They had my car for 90 days. The way the top was positioned, as though making it look like it was in place. I was just wondering if I ran the car for 1400 miles with the oil cap loose and leaking oil over a period of 7 days before I noticed the mishap, is it possible my engine is no longer any good?

Those engines can keep good oil pressure with 2 quarts low but,no ,it,s not that good for it. As long as you didn't see the oil pressure light come on then you should be fine. Keep checking it once a week (or at each gas fill-up if it's easier). As long as your not noticing any significant loss by 3000 miles you should be fine.Sorry I misread the 'replacement' part and also sorry you had that experience at a dealership.was the 90 days it was there due to trying to find an acceptable engine? From all your other postings I'm curious as to to where the engine supplied to them came from and it's actual condition before they installed it.

oil pressure light never came on. i ordered the engine online because I was not comfortable with the warranty on the engine that toyota wanted to provide. The reason that it took so long was part my fault because the first engine I ordered was not the correct one, however the service advisor failed to order the correct a/c compresssor and my car ended up spending an extra 30 days at the shop. I am happy with the engine, The dealership was not being very cooperative from the beginning. I had no choice but to let them finish the job due to the fact it needed to be inspected for an insurance claim. I don't think anybody wants to do the right thing no matter how much theyre getting paid. If I had the knowledge along with the tools, please beleive me, I would do this myself.
