What is your question?
My mom bought a new 2020 Toyota Camry Silver Nightshade Edition last Friday. Today, we noticed there is a deep line etched into the hood that goes across the entire width of the hood and also down onto the sides. It’s about 2/3 of the way down from the windshield. It appears to have been put there purposefully since it’s a steady, straight line (not a scratch) but we want to make sure because it does look like a controlled scratch. Though we only noticed it today and not on the test drive prior to purchase, now that it’s been seen, it can’t be unseen. It’s quite unsightly and my mom hates it. Does anybody know anything about what this seam or etched line is for? I’ve never seen such a thing on the hood of a vehicle before but suggested maybe an antenna or something similar?
How long has your 2020 Toyota Camry had this problem?
Since purchase

Hello, unfortunately - I don't know of this myself, and most of the folks in this forum are not going to be fluent on the 2020 models. Please consult the selling dealer and ask them about this, it's the entire reason your dealer is there -- to support the purchase of your expensive investment and get answers to the questions you may have about your purchase.
New Toyota vehicles come with plastic sheeting to protect hood and other areas while being transported - that would account for the symmetrical lines - can’t think of any thing else it could possibly be. I suppose it’s possible that has left the markings you are referring to - as stated have dealer inspect hood for possible damage / evaluation. Good luck
Probably the "Paint Protection Film" that they put on there. With no pictures, its hard to tell the exact description.
