Car starts and dies, replaced fuel pump and filter but still starts and dies. Could the problem be ignition?

It has the 4 cyl.

First thing to do is make ABSOLUTELY SURE the big air cleaner tube is securely clamped to the engine and the air filter box with NO LEAKS from a split or crack in the tube! .. For testing purposes .. The fuel pump on this car does NOT run when the key is turned on .. Engine must be cranking before the pump will turn on! .. Here are some possible causes for your problem .. Ignition switch .. Crankshaft Position Sensor .. Failed fuse . No injector pulse.. Open circuit to coil primary.. Mass Airflow Sensor .. Coolant Temperature Sensor .. As you can see it's going to require testing before the actual problem can be found .. This is 'probably' more than the average DIYer is capable of doing .. Good luck with it!
