Did anyone ever have the passenger dash (above the glove comparment) crack?

Yeah, sits in the sun but so did my other cars..use a sun shield, let the hot air out before turning on a/c & is in a cooler part of the isle due to being higher to mountains (more rainy where I am). Norm does not go over 90 degress. I was told that they use a different material now, supposedly softer - not as hard as earlier years. So, wouldnt the harder material be more susceptible to crack & a softer material be more pliable? 8 mos past warranty & the whole dash cost apprx 1,700+. Nuts, gonna pursue...didn't pay over 40K for this kinda thing to happen. Appreciate your take on this..wish I was in CA!
