What is your question?
I noticed that there was a light, thin stream of rust that started making a small line under all my door handles and I am concerned that the rust will become more pronounced if I do not take care of the problem. Would I spray a solvent, sand and paint the area, or other ideas. Thanks, Don
What makes this problem better or worse?
it seems to be a slow steady stream, though the rain may impact it.
How long has your 2005 Toyota Avalon had this problem?

Hello, If the rust is originating underneath the door handles, you will need to remove the inner door panels, remove the door handles, and assess the extent of damage that has been done. You may notice that the rust is from deterioration inside the door, and water is just flushing the oxidized particulate out at the door handles when it rains/snows. Either way, assess first, find the extent and origin of damage, and go from there. If rust on the door skin is the issue, you have to sand, prime, spray, topcoat, and that is something you will want a professional to do.
Rust-Olem Rust Reformer can be sprayed *inside* of door to protect door skin - then stainless steel bolts used to replace the existing 'rusting' fasteners. Polishing compound should remove rust stains from outer door skin. As stated - door trim panel and door handle removal is required.
‘IF’ rust has actually ‘penetrated’ the exterior paint - suggest professional repair.
