My engine stopped on highway and i could not accelerate...What could the issue?

No signs at all. and i just changed the oil with 5 litres of toyota oil and oil filter barely 48 hrs ago. No leakage of oil under the engine. I noticed the oil was almost dry as the time the engine stopped on highway.. i thought the oil did not guage well and I added more 4 litres of toyota oil to it. Still it did not guage. in total, i have added 9 litres of oil. the engine did not start. Please what could be the problem?

During this whole process- while driving, did you see any indication on the dash (a light turn on maybe) that something might be wrong?? . In other words - all that oil had to go somewhere - did the oil simply run back out of the engine and then it was driven WITHOUT ANY OIL and now is destroyed ??? http://repairpal.com/repair-shops

THANKS HAD TO DRAIN THE EXCESS OIL. LATER FOUND OUT THE REASON WHY THE ENGINE STOPPED IS COS OF BROKEN TIMING BELT. GOT IT FIXED TODAY. NOW CAN CRUISE IN MY AVALON 04

Well that's a whole lot better than it could have been! Glade you got it fixed! You might need some stronger glasses to see the oil level on the dip stick ... like myself.
