How often should you replace the transmission filter/ strainer ?

Last transmission fluid change (at Dealer) was at 100K . I had the pan dropped and cleaned with fluid replacement. They cleaned the screen and replaced the gasket. I questioned why there was no filter/strainer on the invoice and they told me it didn't have one. Now at 164K and want to have fluid changed. Should I have the filter/strainer replaced?
