IF fluid level in master cylinder is still FULL and no fluid has been added > suspect failed MASTER CYLINDER.

Master cylinder can fail bypassing 2 wheels while still applying pressure to the other 2 wheels. Thus extended pedal travel and poor breaking. IF brake fluid was extremely LOW - that is another problem.. in any event - seek *hands-on* assistance from qualified personnel.. Good luck!
