2002 4 runner fuel tank will not allow auto fill gas

The gas tank stopped allowing auto fill at the gas pump. Manuel only now. Do I need entire tank new or just one part?

What makes this problem better or worse?

Nothing else.is there a reason I have to buy a new tank
