Is the main window switch plug n play?

The switch that handles all my windows broke. Only the drivers side one broke it is stuck in the down position. I bought a new switch but this guy said that I can't just plug it in, that it needs to be "learned". Already confirmed that only the switch is broken the regulator is fine. 1996 Toyota 4 Runner
