2007 Subaru Outback Limited with AT This code came up recently and 24 hours after I put the code reader on the CEL went out and I had my cruise control back. It didn’t last. CEL is back on and cruise control is disabled. What’s up and what is the fix? Car does seem to use oil which I’m good at keeping filled. Exhaust has an rich burnt odor. Smell is stronger than it should be.

Cruise control is terminated by default anytime an engine malfunction is detected - that is normal - will return to operation once engine is repaired. I can’t possibly correctly guess at what the actual failure is - that requires *hands-on* testing. Good luck!
