on halloween evening, 10/31/19, in 39 degree weather, my subaru caught on fire. leaving work and the car was acting up like it was not getting fuel. drove 1.6 miles before I was able to pull over. Shut the car off and called my husband, tried to open the hood and before I could I saw smoke. when I got out I saw plastic with flames dripping. Called fire department & neighbors helped but out fire. Six/seven months earlier we had a lot of work done on car-2/7/19, valve cover gasket set, spark plugs, accelerator pedal, catalytic converter. back to shop first part of March because check engine light-cylinder 1&4 misfire codes and smoking out of the exhaust, catalytic converter getting hot & melted the plastic underneath so work done - oil filter, PT-1 heat set, head bolt set, belt kit, crank sensor connector catalytic converter, under cover, oxygen sensor. Shop first tried to blame locked coolant fan, ruled out. Now they say bad coil. Drive 1.6 miles in 39 weather, caused heat start fire?

We won't be able to give you a definite answer here without looking at the car. Even after looking at the car it will be difficult to give you a 100% answer. Could be a bad injector seal, the cat getting hot again and few dozen other possibilities. Alex
Is the suspected coil melted - as it surely would be if it started this fire ? “Catalytic converter getting hot & melted plastic underneath” ... That seems rather odd. Good luck!
