Normally performance is related to the amount of fuel injected and the amount of air flowed in to engine the amount engine compresses that are and ability to flow out, so if there is a fuel problem air inlet problem with air filter or turbo if equipped or electrical mechanical timing or exhaust restrictions or anything that monitors or controls these systems you may have a power loss
