Have an 06 Forster, three a misfire in cylinder 3 code the other day. Changed out plugs, plug wires and ignition coil pack. It starts overheating the following day. Replaced ac belt, alternator belt, thermostat and temp sensor. Burped the radiator and tested for combustion gas in radiator(came back fine). Car is still overheating, not loosing any coolant though. What's left? The water pump was replaced less than a year ago could it likely be the heater core? Any other ideas?
How long has your 2006 Subaru Forester had this problem?
Three days

Is the radiator fan(s) working properly? When you turn the A/C on, does the fan(s) come on as well?
Based on past experiences and Subaru history - when a *mysterious* overheating problem occurs that just can't be corrected by conventional methods - it's usually a failing head gasket. Yes I read about the combustion leak test - that's not always conclusive .. There is 'possibly' coolant entering cylinder # 3 causing misfire - look for any sign of steam (white smoke) from tail pipe - video scope inserted into # 3 after overnight park may reveal coolant in cylinder. Good luck.
Replacement of ignition components can’t cause overheating.
