Have the CHARGING SYSTEM (alternator) tested! .. IF the alternator output voltage is low, the light will remain on and the battery will eventually become discharged .. That is likely what happened to the battery that was removed... Be aware that IF the battery voltage gets low enough, it can cause the engine to stall while driving!
