New Hampshire car? PROBABLY NOT for a 'novice'. Most likely enough corrosion under there that you may end up replacing ALL , once you get started. Are you equipped and up for that task? I can give some suggestions for removal of old lines if you decide to DIY. Just need to reply............
Yes, NH car. looks like corroded by gas tank bracket, about 32"
First question, you know where it's leaking from? OR are you replacing them because of how bad they look and want to avoid future problems? Either case... are all the lines and fittings you'll need readily available to you? How much brake SYSTEM experience (diagnosis not parts replacing) do you have? Brake lines can be like old cast-iron pipes in a house-- once you mess with one , you're in for it all! Do you have the time and patience?--- may end up a piece of cake , but could be a pain , just want you to be prepared!
Two parts stores have fittings and lines. leak is right rear line along tank. I'm going for it
Good luck! Don't forget any line with a hex fitting on it that you are replacing , you can cut off just above the hex and use a 6-point socket on. Much easier than fighting with line wrenches. Hope it goes well.
Great! that's exactly what i did .pick up parts in morning thanks for advice. here's hoping bleeder screws aren't totally rusted ok that was easier than i thought, new line on,bled lines. BUT,,... why is pedal still going to floor!!? didn't bleed enough? master cylinder shot?
Are you pressure bleeding or vacuum bleeding?
Pressure
