Replaced compressor, dryer,expansion valve and condenser. Recharged system worked for about a month. Now blows hot air and can see refrigerant on the hose and near the schrader valve. Was told the cap would hold the refrigerant in. Is this correct?

No the schrader valve dust CAP will not contain the refrigerant.
There are MANY other possible leak sources.
Recommend ultraviolet dye leak testing.
